Summer 2023 | Thank you to Jesse and Liz for hosting our summer get-away up north. The weather was spectacular, allowing us to enjoy all the fabulous amenities. From s’mores on the fire to morning breakfast on the patio, we loved all the outdoor lounging spaces. Having access to the swimming area with a sheltered cove for doing laps was wonderful, and we also enjoyed sitting in the dining area to listen to loons and watch the Lake Tomahawk 4th of July fireworks. Also fun was hearing the campers across the water. The house was lovely for our group of six—all the comforts of our own home but with an even better view. Thank you to Jesse & Liz for sharing your space with our family and welcoming us to this peaceful slice of heaven. We look forward to returning in the future with new additions to the family.

Summer 2023 | It was a dream come true to stay in your magnificent lake house! You provided everything we needed, including a welcoming hand with my ridiculously oversized luggage! What a privilege to enjoy the Northwoods and magnificent Lake Tomahawk from your splendid vantage point. I will always be grateful, as will my friends, we got to experience it all for the first time. We hope you will have us back and thank you and your beautiful family for spending some time with us over wine and cake. We adored you all, and of course, I loved your devotion to Clearwater. Sad to be leaving you and the loons!

Summer 2021, 2023 | The minute you park your car and traverse the boardwalk over an open area nature preserve you begin to feel you’re someplace special. You end up in a secluded forest at the water’s edge of a large, beautiful lake. The area has eagles and loons and very few people. Get around the little peninsula by walking or golf cart. The house is newly remodeled inside and feels comfortable, clean, and uncluttered. It has firm mattresses, a well equipped kitchen, a fireplace, and a spectacular sun porch/dining room overlooking the water. Liz and Jess were perfect hosts, respecting our privacy, yet being accessible to answer questions or make suggestions. Bring your own water toys or rent in town. Good golf, restaurants, shopping in the area. This is a gem of a place in the north woods.

Summer 2022 | Our time at Camp Kulisha was nothing short of otherworldly. Having spent considerable time during summers in lake homes in the Minocqua area, my expectations were high. And yet the experience surpassed all we (my family, wife and two kids) could ever have imagined. The hosts were incredibly accommodating, and the setup ensured a most serene and relaxing slice of nature. The house is right on beautiful Lake Minocqua, surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the great outdoors. The eagle we spotted soaring above was a bonus, as was the gentle frog we met by the water. Just a short drive to downtown, we were able to escape our regular lives yet access everything we needed. This experience is highly recommended.

Summer 2021 | Camp Kulisha was the perfect respite after such a challenging year for our family of four. It was the best of both worlds. The beautifully appointed house was curated with such care that no detail was left undone. Liz and Jesse were the perfect hosts, truly like old friends. They were always ready to help or give us space as needed. The newly renovated gem of a house being nestled in such a magical pristine spot still feels almost too good to be true. We were amazed by the multilayered rainbows, eagles, loons and shooting stars. Honestly, the only down side is we are not ready to leave. Thank you for sharing your incredible space with us. We look forward to returning & having the adventure continue.

Summer 2020 | We’re sad that our time at Camp Kulisha is coming to an end. Our boys loved playing on and jumping off of Splash Island. We all enjoyed this beautiful lake and hearing the loons put us to bed. We couldn’t have asked for a better view during remote learning with the eagles soaring outside the dining room window. Our nights around the fireplace and fire pit will always hold a special place in our heart. This was a magical place to watch our boys learn to fish, tube, ski and drive a boat. They’ve already asked to come back next year! Thank you for all of your help and the warm welcome.

Summer 2020 | My family had the best vacation of our lives staying at Liz and Jesse’s place. The pictures, as amazing as they look, do not do the house, land, and location justice. We drove up to Minocqua from Chicago. When we turned off the main road, we turned off the music, the kids put down their devices, and we rolled down the windows. We were immediately inundated with the most amazing smell of trees, pine needles, and nature. From that point forward, we were at peace and in awe of our surroundings. I had no idea a place like this existed in the Mid West!

You will have to park your car and walk across a bridge to the island (or you can use the provided golf cart). The house sits right on a crystal clear, spring-fed lake that was warm enough to swim in comfortably. There are stairs going down to the lake, and the first 5-feet or so are shallow enough to walk in, even for kids. The house was recently renovated and was sparkling clean. And the stars were some of the best I have seen in my whole life. There is an eagle nest a bit behind the house and just about every day we had the pleasure of seeing the eagles fly by, bringing fish home for their babies. The house is part of an association that is on hundreds of acres. There are a number of hiking trails through the property. Between the bridge and some of the setup, you definitely have to be careful, and you need to be comfortable being out in nature. We have a 6-year-old and a 2 1/2-year-old and couldn’t have been happier. I would not recommend this place if you have older family members that have a hard time getting around. There’s no TV, which we did not mind one bit. There is internet but it can be a bit flakey. Again, we did not mind this at all. As great as the house and location are, Liz and Jesse seal the deal. They will make you feel like long-time friends and will go out of their way to ensure you have what you need. If you stay long enough, be sure to drive north. There are a ton of hikes to beautiful waterfalls. We did several day trips and even made it up to Lake Superior. We will definitely be visiting again, and have absolutely fallen in love with the North Woods.

Spring 2020 | What a wonderful lake home. It’s been recently renovated, and everything is brand new.  The views from the dining room and porch are amazing.  Even the kitchen had a view, and is well stocked and has all the necessary utensils.  The house is great for kids with plenty of space, and even had some of our favorite games.  There are so many options for things to do on the lake, but sitting on the shore is pretty nice too. We hope to go back!
